NetSuite is undoubtedly the world’s leading cloud ERP.
Increasing productivity, streamlining internal processes, or having an ERP that helps you grow instead of slowing you down are the most common reasons to choose NetSuite, but regardless of the reason you have chosen it if you want to guarantee your ERP to be a success, choosing your NetSuite team correctly is key.
Forming a team for your NetSuite project does not only imply choosing the perfect partner, but it will also imply deciding who can (and should!) Participate in the project of “your side”.
Who should participate in a NetSuite startup?
When you are launching NetSuite, you will usually work with a NetSuite partner like us. The reasons for this are many and important, but the most important is that your job is to manage and grow your company, not to start ERPs.
We can help you to be your “NetSuite department” and we will provide you with all the knowledge of the solution and the experience so that you have all the guarantees and can have NetSuite up and running as quickly as possible.
Typically, several roles will always be required in the NetSuite startup. These roles are divided between those that the company that wants to start NetSuite has to contribute (you) and those that the partner has to contribute.
This member of the NetSuite team will bear a great deal of responsibility and will need to advocate for a new enterprise resource planning system. You will lead the NetSuite project team from the front and will be in contact with key stakeholders throughout the project.
This person must know how to handle themselves under pressure and have decision-making power since they will be responsible for solving unforeseen problems. Ideally, this position will be filled by the CIO, CTO, or CDO. In case your company does not have a complete C-Suite, ideally, the CEO or CFO is present throughout the project.
NetSuite Project Manager
The NetSuite Project Manager must have a technical understanding of your business process. You will work with the project owner to ensure that the enterprise resource planning system development is meeting the business objectives for the solution. Some of your responsibilities are:
- Update the plan when necessary.
- Be the point of contact to solve employee problems
- Project progress report
- Lead and motivate the rest of the NetSuite team
- Manage schedules
- Manage project budget and schedule
- Assist the NetSuite project owner in troubleshooting.
NetSuite key users
Super End Users can be described as the most versatile players on the NetSuite team and the most critical members to ensure long-term success. 52% of end-users are involved in a NetSuite ERP project.
Ideally, it should be a team of internal employees who represent the different departments of the company with great communication skills. End users will maintain an open dialogue between the project management team and the rest of the company. They should be able to address any non-technical issues, requests, or concerns that employees may have and convey them to the NetSuite project manager.
Cross-functional team members
The cross-functional team should include technical experts from the company’s finance, manufacturing, and IT departments. They are in charge of communicating the most complex aspects of the software to non-technical end-users. Its responsibilities include:
- Act as a mentor to others in your functional area
- Work with users to develop processes that adapt to the new software application
- Contribute to situation reporting
- Help design and configure software parameters for each module
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within the new enterprise resource planning solution
The selection of this member of the NetSuite team should not be taken lightly. A good NetSuite partner must know the best approach to the project and offer realistic deadlines to follow. This is not always possible if done internally, as your staff may not have as much experience in the process.
When evaluating the options for selecting your Implementation Partner, you should focus on several points:
- Proven Experience
- Inquisitive nature
- Your plan for the project
Is it convenient to work with a NetSuite partner?
Implementing a new ERP solution requires a great deal of skill, teamwork, and dedication. For many companies, dedicating a dedicated team to a NetSuite project is not profitable as it takes it away from its main objectives. It is at this point that the option of working with a specialized NetSuite partner becomes the most viable option.
To knowingly evaluate this option, here are some benefits of outsourcing the execution of a NetSuite project:
Implementers like us have a methodology to implement NetSuite and their knowledge is based on the experience acquired over many installations carried out.
Your internal team will be able to focus on other tasks reducing their workload when it comes to implementation.
The NetSuite project will be completed as efficiently as possible, as we will use best practices and all resources that are only available to NetSuite partners.
By reducing the burden on your own team members, outsourcing can save time and money, and be more efficient as providers will update their cloud services when appropriate.
