Ferrari vs. Lamborghini: What’s the Difference?

Did you know that the Lamborghini car brand was only created due to Enzo Ferrari not listening to Ferruccio Lamborghini’s criticism? Lamborghini decided to prove he could build a better sports car than Ferrari and founded Automobili Lamborghini. Since then, these two exotic car brands have dominated the luxury sports car market.

You might find yourself wondering how to choose an exotic car when these two brands are so popular. So keep reading to find out the differences between Ferrari vs Lamborghini to help you pick one.

The Beginning

While Lamborghini came out with the intent of creating luxury sports cars, Ferrari was created for racing.

Enzo Ferrari was a lover of motor racing, and the Ferrari racing team has attracted some of the best drivers to the tracks. However, after some time, Enzo wanted to experiment and created Auto Construzioni S.P.A., which focused on producing luxury supercars.

Ferruccio Lamborghini loved collecting and racing sports cars, including those of Enzo Ferrari. As he drove Ferrari’s cars, he noted some engineering he believed could be improved and decided to build his own sports car.

Style and Design

When you see one of these exotic cars, you can immediately recognize them by their unique characteristic. Ferraris and Lamborghinis are also known for their red and yellow signature colors.

Ferraris tend to lean towards sweeping bodywork and hidden aerodynamic features like front diffusers and curved dams—Lamborghinis, on the other hand, favor external aerodynamic features and sharp edges.

Cost and Performance

When buying a supercar, performance is what really matters.

As of 2019, the fastest street-legal Ferrari on the market is the 488 Pista. The 488 Pista clocks in with a maximum speed of just over 210 mph and the ability to accelerate to 60 mph in under 3 seconds.

The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ barely beats out the 488 Pista with a maximum speed of 217 mph and similar acceleration time.

These supercars are investments, with the least expensive Ferrari and the least expensive Lamborghini both coming in at approximately $200,000 (USD). The 488 GTB and the 488 Spider Ferrari models are the most fuel-efficient models, with an MPG of 18. Lamborghini’s Huracan model closely follows at 15 MPG.

If you’re still unsure whether you prefer a Ferrari or a Lamborghini, you should consider an exotic car rental so you can feel the difference for yourself.

Ferrari vs Lamborghini Made Easy

When trying to choose the best exotic cars, you’ll probably end up stuck between Ferrari vs Lamborghini. These two powerhouse car brands are well known for a reason; when it comes to style, speed, and class, they are hard to beat.

At the end of the day, the car you like the most will be the best car for you. You can’t go wrong with either a Ferrari or a Lamborghini, so you simply need to choose the one you prefer.
